Information required for Join, Restore, or revoke Chinese Nationality

1. The Law of the People’s Republic of China on Entry and Exit of the Aliens;

2. Rules Governing the implementation of the Laws of the People’s Republic of China on the Entry and Exit of the Aliens;

3. The Nationality Law of the People’s Republic of China

4. The Regulations for visa’s work issued by the Ministry of the Public Security ;

5. The Regulations for Employment of the AliensIssued by the Ministry of the Labor, the Ministry of the Public Security, the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Foreign Economic Trade)

6. The Rules of the University Enrolling Overseas Students





1. Three application forms for residing in China permanently, each with an attached recent, bare-headed, full-faced, white-background color photo and submit one more of the same size photo upon application; those applying to join the Chinese Nationality should fill out the Application letter to join the Chinese Nationality; those apply to restore fill out the Application Form for restoration of the Chinese Nationality; those applying to revoke must fill out the Application Form for revoking their Chinese Nationality.

2. The applicant must submit the application letter to join Chinese Nationality.

3. Relevant Certificates: applying to join or restore Chinese Nationality :

① One copy of the applicant’s valid passport or other valid Travel certificates .

② One copy of the Residence permit;

③ One copy of the certificates confirming the applicant’s residency;

④ If the applicant can not submit the above certificates, he/she should provide other replacement certificates that can prove the applicant’s status and residence in China

4. Apply to revoke Chinese Nationality

① One copy of the Identity Card of the People’s Republic of China;

② One copy of the Residence Booklet and relevant certificates that apply for revoking

Chinese Nationality.
